The top managers try to trick and bribe Stratton into signing away the rights to his invention -to then suppress the invention- but he refuses. Both groups are joined in the fear that once consumers have purchased enough cloth, demand will drop precipitously and put textile industry out of business.
Also the trade unions realise the consequence of his invention.
